Ford Mustang Offers $1,000 Discount to Muscle Car Owners in New Sales Strategy

While many of its competitors face discontinuation or significant changes to meet stricter emissions regulations, the Ford Mustang remains steadfast in its traditional approach. In a recent move to attract customers from rival brands, Ford has introduced a new promotion that makes owning a new Mustang more affordable for drivers of certain muscle cars.

Ford's latest initiative, known as the Mustang Competitive Conquest Bonus Cash deal, offers a $1,000 discount on the 2024 Mustang EcoBoost or GT. This deal is available to owners and lessees of 1995 or newer Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge Challenger, or Dodge Charger models. Notably, this national offer does not require a trade-in or lease termination, and it is set to expire on April 30th.

This incentive is particularly unique considering the scarcity of incentives for the 2024 Ford Mustang. The model remains the last of its segment, as the Chevrolet Camaro will be discontinued after the 2024 model year, and the Dodge Charger and Challenger have been replaced with the Dodge Charger Sixpack, which does away with the V8 engine.

This targeted approach could serve as an effective strategy to attract customers from Ford's direct competitors. For those who currently own or lease a muscle car from Dodge or Chevy, this deal represents an appealing opportunity to purchase a 2024 Mustang at a discounted price.

In addition to this promotion, the Ford Mustang has recently retained its title as the world's best-selling sports car, despite a 6.8% decline in its largest market, the U.S., during the first quarter of this year compared to 2023. To further boost sales, Ford is offering a $1,000 cash bonus to owners or lessees of rival muscle cars in the U.S. who are considering trading in for a new 2024 Mustang.

Ford's seventh-generation Mustang for the 2024 model year has positioned itself without direct competitors. To capitalize on this advantage, the company is offering extra incentives to entice potential buyers who already own a muscle car. The "Mustang Competitive Conquest Bonus Cash" provides a $1,000 cash bonus to individuals who currently own or lease a 1995 or newer model year Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge Challenger, or Dodge Charger, provided they trade in their existing vehicle or terminate their lease. This offer also applies to those who terminated a lease on a muscle car within 30 days prior to purchasing their new Mustang.

Ford's global sales figures for the Mustang in 2023 underscore its popularity, with over 59,000 units delivered worldwide, including 48,605 units in the U.S. alone, surpassing competitors like the Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Camaro. Ford is also gearing up to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Mustang on April 17th, with plans to debut a special celebratory appearance package.
