Porsche Unveils the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid and Panamera GTS: A Blend of Power and Luxury

Porsche has long been synonymous with high performance, luxury, and cutting-edge technology. In its latest reveal, the renowned automaker has introduced two new models to the Panamera lineup: the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid and the Panamera GTS. These vehicles not only embody Porsche's commitment to innovation but also set new standards in the luxury sports sedan segment.

The Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid: Electrifying Performance

Days after setting a Nürburgring record, the hottest Panamera of them all is official. Porsche debuted the Turbo S E-Hybrid equipped with an electrified V-8 engine making serious power. Not only is it more potent than its predecessor, but it also comes with a substantial battery upgrade. Sticky tires, a carbon fiber aero kit, and a rich list of standard equipment boost its appeal.

At the heart of the range-topper is a twin-turbo 4.0-liter engine making 591 horsepower. Built into the eight-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission, the electric motor belts out another 187 hp. Together, the two deliver a combined 771 hp, lending the new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid a substantial 81-hp advantage over the old model. Torque has also jumped by 96 pound-feet to a mountain-moving 737 lb-ft.

With this extra electrified muscle, the flagship Panamera is now two-tenths of a second quicker to 60 mph, completing the sprint in just 2.8 seconds. Flat out, it hits 202 mph, making it 8 mph faster than the previous model. Porsche has increased the gross capacity of the battery pack by 45 percent to 25.9 kilowatt-hours, resulting in a higher electric range.

Sitting at the top of the food chain, the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid gets the good stuff as standard. The ceramic brakes are included from the get-go, as are the forged 21-inch centerlock wheels. There are still a few boxes on the options list you can tick, namely an aero kit and Michelin tires. The former increases downforce by 132 pounds at 124 mph while the latter is a bespoke Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubber.

Porsche is already accepting orders and wants an eye-watering $228,495 before options. If that’s out of your price range, the Panamera lineup also adds a GTS trim for the 2025 model year. The Gran Turismo Sport costs a more attainable $156,195, with both prices including destination and handling fees. While the Turbo S E-Hybrid is the most powerful of the lot, the GTS is claimed to be the most agile.

The Panamera GTS: Pure Driving Pleasure

Together with the Turbo S E-Hybrid flagship, Porsche introduced the new 2025 Panamera GTS, which it says is focused on “driver engagement and agility.” The GTS is powered by a V8 engine, albeit without any form of electrified assistance. More importantly, it features a version-specific chassis setup and sporty touches inside and out.

The twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 is slightly detuned compared to the hybrid models, producing 493 hp. Nonetheless, this marks a 20 hp improvement over the previous GTS.

According to Porsche, the new Panamera GTS accelerates from 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds quicker than before, and has a top speed of 188 mph. Furthermore, the sound experience is enhanced by the standard sport exhaust system.

The highlight of the GTS is the chassis upgrades, aimed at sharpening its road prowess and enhancing driving enjoyment without compromising ride comfort. These include a sportier calibration for the standard air suspension, lowered by 10 mm compared to the standard Panamera, along with reinforced anti-roll bars and a lower basic spring rate. The model is also equipped with the electronically-controlled PTV Plus limited-slip differential.

The exterior features black GTS emblems that complement the Satin-Matt Black accents of the standard Sport Package and the darker lighting units. Borrowed from the Turbo S E-Hybrid, the 21-inch center-lock wheels in Anthracite Grey contrast with the red brake calipers. Completing the look, the quad tailpipes of the standard-fit sport exhaust are finished in Dark Bronze.

Moving inside, Porsche added a generous amount of Race-Tex, referencing its motorsport heritage. The company provides two GTS-specific interior packages featuring Carmine Red or Slate Grey Neo highlights, with a Matte Carbon Fiber package available at an extra cost.

The 2025 Porsche Panamera is already available for ordering, ahead of its arrival at US dealers in late Q1 2025. Pricing starts from $154,200, excluding tax, title, registration, dealer charges, and a $1,995 delivery fee. This makes it significantly cheaper than the electrified Turbo E-Hybrid and Turbo S E-Hybrid models.

Innovations and Features

Both the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid and the Panamera GTS come equipped with the latest in automotive technology and luxury features. Porsche’s advanced infotainment system, complete with a high-resolution touchscreen, ensures that drivers stay connected and entertained. The interior is a masterclass in craftsmanship, featuring premium materials and a design that blends functionality with elegance.

Safety is paramount, and these new models are no exception. They include a suite of driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and night vision assist, providing peace of mind alongside their thrilling performance.

A Commitment to Excellence

Porsche's introduction of the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid and Panamera GTS highlights the brand's relentless pursuit of excellence. By offering a hybrid model that doesn’t compromise on performance and a GTS variant that delivers pure driving joy, Porsche caters to a diverse range of automotive enthusiasts. These vehicles are not just modes of transportation; they are a testament to what can be achieved when passion and engineering brilliance converge.

In summary, the new Panamera models represent the pinnacle of what Porsche has to offer, blending high performance, luxury, and advanced technology. Whether opting for the eco-friendly power of the Turbo S E-Hybrid or the visceral thrill of the GTS, drivers can expect an unparalleled driving experience that only Porsche can deliver. Both new flavors of the Panamera will reach US dealers near the end of Q1 2025.
