Volvo Simplifies Lineup: Introducing EX and EC Model Names for Electric Cars

Volvo Cars is standardizing its model names for fully electric cars, aiming to become a fully electric car maker by 2030. The XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge models will be renamed EX40 and EC40, integrating with other fully electric models like EX30, EX90, and EM90. The update also removes Recharge badging from plug-in hybrid models, denoting them by the T6 or T8 suffix. The new model name standard simplifies choice for consumers as they shop for a new Volvo car. Volvo is also introducing a Performance software pack for EX40 and EC40 Twin Motor variants, which increases power output by 25kW for faster acceleration. The company is also investing in improvements to hybrid products, with B5 mild hybrid petrol variants of XC60 and XC90 employing a more efficient engine combustion cycle. The company is also introducing a special Black Edition of the EX40, EC40, and XC40 models.
