This sophisticated all-rounder offers style, sportiness, versatility, and spacious comfort. The flexible drive architecture allows for efficient petrol and diesel engines, plug-in hybrid systems, and purely electric drive systems to be produced on a single production line at the BMW Group's Dingolfing plant.

The new BMW 5 Series Touring boasts dynamically stretched proportions and generously designed surfaces, with a longer wheelbase and wider body compared to its predecessor. The front end features modern interpretations of twin headlights and BMW grille, with LED elements serving as direction indicators and daytime running lights. The BMW grille features optional BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting. The side view features flat window graphics and a long roof spoiler, emphasizing the sporty, elegant 2-box design. Powerfully sculpted rear wheel arches and a flat rear window highlight the car's wide stature. The range of paintwork includes three BMW Individual finishes. Standard equipment includes light alloy wheels in 18-inch and 19-inch sizes for all-electric and plug-in hybrid models, with up to 21-inch alloy wheels available as an option. The dynamic character of the new BMW 5 Series Touring can be further enhanced with the M Sport Package, M Sport Package Pro, and M Carbon Exterior Package options. The top model in the series, the BMW i5 M60 xDrive Touring, comes as standard with exterior components that express its outstanding driving dynamics.

The BMW 5 Series Touring features a progressive, driver-oriented cockpit design with a 12.3-inch Information Display and a 14.9-inch Control Display. The BMW 5 Series Touring offers ample space and improved acoustic comfort, particularly in the rear. Its versatile interior and intelligent functions make it impressive on the road and in everyday use. The luggage compartment opens wider and has a low sill, allowing for easy stowage of large items. All models have a luggage compartment volume that can be expanded from 570 to 1,700 litres. The vehicle also features automatic tailgate operation and remote unlocking of the 40:20:40 split rear seat backrest. Storage compartments under the load compartment floor provide space for the partition net, cover, and charging cable for all-electric and plug-in hybrid models.

The BMW i5 Touring is the first all-electric premium model in its competitive field, available in two versions. The i5 M60 xDrive Touring features two integrated drive units on the front and rear axles, forming an electric all-wheel drive with up to 442 kW/601 hp. The top model accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed electronically limited to 230 km/h. The BMW i5 eDrive40 Touring has an electric motor on the rear axle, generating a maximum output of 250 kW/340 hp and a maximum torque of up to 430 Nm. The i5 eDrive40 Touring accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. Both models have a high-voltage battery in the underbody, providing a usable energy content of 81.2 kWh. The i5 Touring's long-distance capability is enhanced by adaptive recuperation and heat pump technology for heating and cooling the interior. The WLTP test procedure determines the range for the i5 M60 xDrive Touring and the i5 eDrive40 Touring.

The BMW i5 Touring battery can be charged with alternating current up to 11 kW, or with direct current up to 205 kW. It features anticipatory thermal management for efficiency, and Connected Home Charging for all-electric and plug-in hybrid models for solar and load-optimized charging. The battery is also compatible with the Plug & Charge Multi Contract function.

The BMW 5 Series Touring features all diesel engines with 48-volt mild hybrid technology and an 8-speed Steptronic transmission. The four-cylinder BMW 520d Touring models, available at market launch, have a maximum output of 145 kW/197 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. In summer 2024, an in-line six-cylinder diesel engine will be added to the drive portfolio, and two model variants with the latest generation of plug-in hybrid drive will follow. The combined fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of these models are expected to be low.

The BMW 5 Series Touring offers a perfect balance between sportiness and comfort, with its longest wheelbase, large track widths, and a 50:50 axle load distribution. Its lightweight construction and optimized body-chassis connection provide optimal conditions for driving. The suspension technology includes sport steering, wheel slip limitation, and an integrated braking system.
