The 2025 Kia K5 comes with a larger standard engine.

Kia America showcased the refreshed 2025 K5 midsize sedan at the Chicago Auto Show, featuring a new 2.5-liter engine, updated design, drivetrain refinements, and numerous tech upgrades across five trim levels: LXS, EX, GT-Line, and the turbocharged GT. The K5 offers a unique and striking alternative in an otherwise stalwart segment, positioning it in the sweet spot for those needing room for five but preferring a bold statement. The 2025 model year also includes subtle refinements, with a focus on the popular EX trim, which includes a Bose1 Premium Audio System with Active Sound Design, a 10-way powered driver's seat, Digital Key 2.02, heated steering wheel, and power folding mirrors with integrated LED turn signals.

The 2025 Kia K5 is a midsize sedan with design enhancements that align with Kia's Opposites United typography. Notable features include Star Map LED front DRLs, flared satin-metal-look fins, and angular taillights. The K5's wheel program includes sporty multi-spoke alloy designs, with the LXS on 16-inch wheels, EX and GT-Line on 18-inch wheels, and the GT on 19-inch wheels with performance-focused 245/40R-19 Pirelli P-Zero tires. The GT1 Package comes with 19-inch Custom Gloss Black wheels.

Inside, the K5 features a single-pane curved display with a 12-inch instrument screen and a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen navigation unit. Wireless Apple CarPlay3 and Android Auto4 are now standard across the K5 line, and Kia's Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) system processes faster and in higher fidelity. Over The Air (OTA)5 updates are now possible, enhancing the ownership experience. A revised HVAC/audio-access display is below the instrument panel, and a revised center console with larger cupholders, a wireless charging pad, and USB-C charge ports are also included.

Spearheading the enhancements under the hood is a new 2.5-liter normally aspirated four-cylinder engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that drive the front wheels. Found in LXS, EX and GT-Line, power for the new engine is increased by 11 horsepower over the previous 1.6-liter turbo. Torque comes in at a robust 181 lb.-ft. For those who live where the weather can be inhospitable, all-wheel drive is available on the GT-Line.

The GT’s powertrain for 2025 remains unchanged. Producing 290 horsepower and a stout 311 lb.-ft. of torque, the engine is mated to an 8-speed dual clutch transmission that drives the front wheels.

The K5 line has improved its standard Advanced Driving Assist Systems (ADAS) with features such as Fusion type Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Park Distance Warning – Forward and Reverse, Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC), Highway Driving Assist (HDA), Blind View Monitor (BVM), Surround View Monitor (SVM), Parking Collision Avoidance Assist – Reverse (PCA-R), and Park Distance Warning – Side (PDW-S). The GT-Line Premium Package offers panoramic sunroof, LED interior lighting, and 12-speaker Bose1 Premium Audio. The GT-1 Package includes Digital Key 2.02, Blind View Monitor, Park Distance Warning – Side, 19-inch Gloss Black alloy wheels, and a 12.3-inch curved meter cluster.
