The 2025 Kia Carnival MPV adds a hybrid engine, a more refined design, and new technology.

Kia has unveiled the refreshed 2025 Kia Carnival at the 2024 Chicago Auto Show, reaffirming its position as a trailblazer in the minivan segment. The grand SUV-like design offers exceptional passenger and cargo space, while the Carnival is equipped with a turbo-hybrid powertrain. The Carnival is brimming with Kia's next-generation connected car technology, brimming with connectivity and convenience. The minivan will be available in five trim levels (LX, LXS, EX, SX, SX Prestige) and four trim levels (LXS, EX, SX, SX Prestige) when it goes on sale in summer 2024. The most significant changes to the Carnival are found at the front, with a wider grille and amber daytime running lights (DRLs) aligning it more closely with the Sorento.

The Carnival SUV, a Kia model, features a modern and bold design language, with a grand grille, chiseled front fascia, and intricate cube-like headlamps. The rear has smooth surfaces and clean lines, with license plate housing repositioned to the lower tailgate. The Star Map taillights add depth to the rear, and a wide skid plate contrasts with black cladding. The Carnival offers alloy wheel options ranging from 17- to 19-inches, with geometric angles. The Dark Edition4 offers darkened exterior elements, including roof rails, skid plates, and side mirror covers.

The Carnival is a futuristic SUV with simple shapes and three-dimensional effects, featuring ambient lighting across the dashboard. The center console has large capacity dual cupholders for large beverages. The curved panoramic dual-display features full digital instrumentation with a 12.3-inch cluster and infotainment display. An optional full-color head-up display projects information onto the windshield. The Full Display Mirror replaces the traditional rear-view mirror with a camera view. Built-in lights within the seat belt buckle illuminate for easy visibility. The Carnival has seven standard USB-C ports, two power outlets, and two 115V inverters for charging mobile devices. A multi-zone voice recognition feature distinguishes between speakers in the front and second-row, recognizing key activations. The Carnival's cavernous interior space for 7- or 8-passengers maintains its best-in-class 145.1 cubic feet of cargo room behind the first row.

Kia's Carnival now offers the next-generation Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) operating system, which processes faster and offers higher fidelity. Quick Controls are accessible with a swipe on the screen, and over-the-air updates keep the Carnival updated. The ccRC Rear Entertainment System, with dual 14.6-inch monitors and full HD resolution, allows streaming from popular platforms and can connect Bluetooth headsets and mirrors from external devices. The ultrawideband-based Digital Key 2.0 allows drivers to use compatible smart devices or NFC-enabled smart cards as virtual vehicle keys.

The Carnival is a multi-purpose vehicle with a 3.5-liter V6 GDI engine producing 287 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Carnival Hybrid, available for 2025, is a 1.6-liter turbo-hybrid engine with a 54kW motor and a 6-speed automatic transmission, combining 242 horsepower and 271 lb.-ft. of torque. The hybrid performance upgrades aim to improve fuel economy and comfort, with aerodynamic 17" wheels exclusive to the Carnival HEV. In Eco/Smart mode, Electrification-Vehicle Motion Control (E-VMC) adjusts regenerative braking with a three-level deceleration control. Other features include E-Handling, E-Ride, and E-Evasive Handling Assist for improved vehicle responsiveness, smoother action over bumps, and emergency steering control.

Kia has updated the Carnival's Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Junction Crossing, Lange-change Oncoming, Lange-change Side, and Evasive Steering Assist. The system also includes Highway Driving Assist 29 (HDA 2), designed to maintain a predetermined distance from the vehicle detected in front, keep the vehicle within detected lane markers, and assist in lane changes under certain conditions.
