2024 Lancia Ypsilon Revealed [W/Video + Gallery]

The 2024 Lancia Ypsilon, the automaker's first-ever electric vehicle (EV), is set to debut in Milan on February 14. The EV-only Limited Edition Cassina trim will be produced in 1906 units, honoring the founding year of Lancia. The Ypsilon features an illuminated version of the "calice" grille and round taillights inspired by the iconic Lancia Stratos, which were previewed by the Pu+Ra HPE concept. Other exterior highlights include polygonal headlights mounted lower than usual on the front bumper, glossy black accents on the nose, around the wheel arches, on the C-pillar, and on the tailgate.

The interior of the Ypsilon is characterized by high-quality materials and unique design features, with the cabin resembling an Italian living room. The collaboration with Cassina, an Italian brand of high-end furniture, contributed to the choice of materials and colors. Standout features include velvet-upholstered seats with the nostalgic "cannelloni" motif and a circular center console that looks like a coffee table.

Lancia has not revealed the technical specifications of the new Ypsilon, but it is expected to have a WLTP range of 403 km (250 miles) between charges, likely due to a 54 kWh battery pack shared among numerous Stellantis EVs. The Italian supermini will ride on the new STLA Small architecture, an evolution of the widely-used CMP/eCMP. A hybrid version is also expected to inherit the mild-hybrid turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine from the Group's parts bin.

After its public debut on February 14, the Lancia Ypsilon Limited Edition Cassina will tour Italian showrooms and be available for order. The company encourages Italian fans to join the "1 of 1906" campaign by filing a "non-binding" expression of interest form through its official website.
