All-New Suzuki Swift Hybrid: More Than Just Familiar, It's Enhanced for a Greener Future on sale in the UK and Republic of Ireland from April 2024

Unveiled in October 2023 at the Japan Mobility Show, Suzuki's all-new Swift Concept marks the fourth generation of their popular compact supermini. Aiming to elevate the driving experience, this hatchback embodies Suzuki's commitment to innovation. The stylish exterior houses a surprisingly spacious cabin and luggage compartment, all within a compact 3,860mm frame. Designed to offer excellent visibility and integrate essential technology, the Swift Concept promises a perfect blend of Suzuki's identity with modern functionality.

stepping up to the Motion Grade equips the Swift Concept with a slew of safety and convenience features. Highlights include 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps, a navigation system, and a suite of driver-assistance technologies like Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, and Blind Spot Monitoring. The Ultra Grade adds further comfort touches like automatic climate control and heated rear seats, while all trims benefit from a vibrant color palette. Eight metallic hues are available, with the eye-catching Frontier Blue Pearl Metallic and Burning Red Pearl Metallic showcasing a new three-layer coating process for exceptional depth and shine. For a complete breakdown of equipment and technical specifications, you can refer to the detailed press pack on the manufacturer's media website.

The Swift Concept boasts a sleek and sporty design with a floating roof illusion created by blacked-out pillars and a piano-black front grille. L-shaped signature lamps flow seamlessly with the body lines, while revised LED headlamps with inner lenses and light rods project a wider stance. The sculpted rear tailgate, wide bumper, integrated spoiler, and boot side spoilers complete the dynamic look. Even the rear combination lamps add a touch of sophistication with their three-dimensional illumination. Stepping inside, the dual-tone interior with driver-oriented controls and a prominent nine-inch infotainment display promises both comfort and functionality. Heated front seats with reshaped cushioning and geometric patterned upholstery further elevate the cabin experience. This all translates into a design that aims to inject excitement and satisfaction into every drive.

The new Swift employs the "HEARTECT" lightweight platform, which provides improved vehicle performance due to its lightness and stiffness. The underbody structure and component layout were completely overhauled, resulting in a robust frame for increased collision safety and a continuous, smooth, and curving shape for energy dispersion. Suzuki's new platform strategy reduces engine compartment size while increasing cabin room and luggage capacity.

Suzuki has implemented efforts to reduce noise, vibration, and harshness in the vehicle's cabin environment, hence improving ride comfort and quietness. For the first time, sound and vibration glue has been put to the vehicle's underbody to reduce noise and vibration transmission on uneven roads.

Suzuki's new Swift model includes new aerodynamic design features such as a torsion beam cover for the rear axle, tailgate side spoilers, roof end spoilers, underbody spoilers, strakes, and an enhanced body exterior. The flat front bumper assembly is devoid of decoration and trim features. The 16-inch alloy wheels are engineered to combine aerodynamics, weight, and strength, and include a disc-shaped outer rim for optimum performance. The latest technology tires provide 15% less rolling resistance than the previous model.

The Swift features a new three-cylinder petrol engine with multi-point fuel injection, which improves fuel economy, torque, and reduces CO2 emissions. The engine has a maximum power output of 82PS and a slightly higher torque of 112Nm at 4,500rpm. The acceleration time to 62 mph has been reduced by 5% to 12.5 seconds for the manual model and 11.9 seconds for the optional CVT. This is accomplished by adjusting cylinder turbulence to accelerate combustion.

Suzuki has added an upgraded hybrid system to the Swift, which enhances fuel efficiency by combining a self-charging hybrid system with a lithium-ion battery. The Swift's standard 12V Mild Hybrid system is compact and lightweight, with an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) that functions as both a generator and a starter motor. The ISG has a power output of 2.3 kW and torque of 60 Nm. The technology adds less than 7.0kg to the car's overall weight, and for the Swift Motion with manual transmission, it contributes to CO2 emissions of 99g/km and combined fuel economy of 64.2 mpg.

The standard Active safety equipment for both Motion and Ultra Swift classes features an updated Dual Sensor Brake Support system that employs millimetre-wave radar and a monocular camera. This device improves accident mitigation, nighttime and junction visibility, and can identify pedestrians, bicycles, motorcyclists, and cars ahead. The technology operates even at high speeds, in low light, and in inclement weather, preventing collisions using Warning, Brake Assist, and Automatic Braking capabilities.

The Driver Monitoring System (DMS) is a gadget that employs a camera and a near-infrared LED to track a driver's eyes and face in poor light. If the system senses tiredness, falling asleep, or looking away from the road, it will sound a warning alarm and display an alert message on the information display. If the system detects tiredness at speeds of 43 mph or above, it will encourage the driver to take a rest.

The technology detects lane departures when a vehicle travels at 37 mph or higher and exits without a turn signal. It vibrates the steering wheel and displays a warning light in the instrument cluster. The steering wheel also provides automatic input to the driver to ensure that the car continues to go in the correct direction.

Suzuki Connect, which debuted on the S-Cross Hybrid in 2022, is now available in the UK and European markets for the new Swift. It employs the vehicle's data communication module (DCM) to connect people to their automobiles in real time, allowing them to access useful functions via the Suzuki Connect smartphone app. Users can track the status of their vehicles, lock and unlock them remotely, examine their driving history, and find parked cars. They can also receive maintenance-related information and warning light alerts, as well as exchange critical diagnostic data with their registered dealer for faster after-sales service. The app is available for both Android and iOS.

The Motion and Ultra trim levels of the automobile include a 9-inch High Definition audio system with navigation and smartphone connectivity. This system offers radio controls, standard equipment navigation, a rear view camera image, and Apple CarPlay and Android device connectivity via USB and Wi-Fi. Apple CarPlay enables customers to make calls, get directions, listen to music, check email, and send text messages, among other things. Android Auto users can also use Google Assistant voice commands with approved apps.
