Volkswagen Unveils Most Powerful Bulli Ever: All-Electric ID. Buzz GTX Gets AWD, More Power

Volkswagen has unveiled its latest innovation, the ID. Buzz GTX, a remarkable electric Bulli boasting a performance drive system. Offering versatility, it comes in two wheelbases, with options for two battery sizes and seating configurations ranging from 5 to 7 seats. Equipped with standard 4MOTION all-wheel drive, it ensures optimal driving experience across various terrains. Not compromising on style, both models feature individualized designs that captivate attention. Excitement builds as pre-sales for this futuristic vehicle are set to commence in the summer. The introduction of the ID. Buzz GTX signifies Volkswagen's expansion of its range of sporty GTX models, joining the esteemed ranks of the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, and ID.7 Tourer, further solidifying its commitment to innovative and sustainable mobility solutions.

Electric all-wheel drive: The new ID. Buzz GTX is equipped with two electric motors – both together form all-wheel drive. The top speed of the GTX models is electronically limited to 160 km/h. The electric motors are supplied with energy by batteries in two sizes, which can be recharged from 10 to 80 percent in 26 minutes at DC fast charging stations with up to 185 kW4 or 200 kW4 (maximum charging capacity). GTX towing capacity: Thanks to an extra power and the 4MOTION drive system, the ID. Buzz GTX offers a higher maximum trailer weight: the version with normal wheelbase can effortlessly pull up to 1,800 kg (braked, 8 per cent gradient), while the ID. Buzz GTX with long wheelbase has a maximum towing capacity of 1,600 kg. The maximum trailer weight was thus increased by 800 kg and 600 kg respectively. The 4MOTION system offers great traction advantages when towing a trailer on wet or loose surfaces in particular. The new ID. Buzz GTX is therefore an ideal towing vehicle – for example, for boat or horse trailers, which are often moved on slippery ground.

The ID. Buzz GTX showcases a host of distinctive exterior features that set it apart from the crowd. Its individualized front end boasts a GTX-style bumper adorned with a striking honeycomb design black air intake grille, complemented by new side air guide elements for enhanced aerodynamics. Adding to its allure are the new daytime running lights seamlessly integrated into the bumper. All-black body elements receive a sleek high-gloss black finish, exuding an air of sophistication. Standard equipment includes the Solna 20-inch alloy wheels, with the option to upgrade to two new 21-inch alloy wheels for a commanding presence on the road. Lighting the way forward are the IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights, ensuring optimal visibility in all conditions. For those seeking to make a bold statement, the ID. Buzz GTX offers an exclusive Cherry Red paint finish, which can be configured as a solid color or as a striking two-tone finish, allowing drivers to express their individuality with style.

Volkswagen's GTX interior design elevates the sporty essence of the ID and Buzz models with a sophisticated flair. Dark tones dominate the interior, accentuating the vehicles' dynamic character. In the Buzz GTX versions, a sleek black headliner adds to the ambiance of the cabin. The seats boast a specific GTX design, offering electrically adjustable comfort seats with memory function for personalized comfort. Front seats are adorned with black ArtVelours Eco microfleece, featuring a diamond pattern, red contrasting seams, and red piping, adding a touch of sporty elegance. The multifunction steering wheel is adorned with red cross-stitching, further refined by a red application on the center trim and integrated GTX lettering in chrome, ensuring every detail exudes a sense of premium craftsmanship and style.

The ID. Buzz GTX offers versatile passenger configurations to suit various needs and preferences. It can be selected as a five-seater configuration, featuring a 40:60 split three-seat bench in the second row (2/3), providing ample space and flexibility. Alternatively, for those desiring a bit more seating capacity, a six-seater option is available, with two individual seats in both the second and third rows (2/2/2), ensuring everyone travels in comfort. Additionally, the long-wheelbase ID. Buzz GTX model extends its versatility further by offering a seven-seater configuration, comprising a three-seat bench in the second row and two individual seats in the third row (2/3/2), accommodating larger groups or families with ease. To enhance flexibility even more, the seats in the second row can be adjusted longitudinally, with a range of movement of 150mm for the standard wheelbase or 200mm for the long wheelbase, allowing passengers to optimize legroom or cargo space according to their preferences.

The ID. Buzz GTX ensures ample space for all your cargo needs with its well-designed luggage compartments. In the standard wheelbase model, the luggage compartment offers a generous volume ranging from 1,121 litres with the five-seater configuration to an impressive 2,123 litres when the rear bench seat is folded down, providing versatility for various loads. For those opting for the extended version of the ID. Buzz GTX, there's even more room to accommodate belongings, boasting 1,340 litres when loaded to the second-row backrests and an expansive 2,469 litres when loaded to the first row, ensuring ample space for larger items or luggage. The long-wheelbase GTX model doesn't compromise on cargo space either, offering a substantial 306 litres of load space behind the third row of seats. To further enhance usability, the multiflex board, available in both long and short configurations, allows for the creation of a second loading level and a flat load area when the rear seats are folded down, ensuring efficient use of space for all your storage needs.

The GTX models receive significant updates, both in hardware and software, enhancing the driving experience to a new level of sophistication. Among the notable upgrades are optional features like the head-up display and next-generation infotainment systems, providing drivers with advanced technological capabilities. The touchscreen size has been increased to a spacious 12.9 inches, offering a more immersive interface. Adding a touch of innovation, an illuminated touch bar facilitates easy access to temperature and volume controls. Moreover, the introduction of the new IDA voice assistant, capable of responding to natural voice commands, further streamlines vehicle interaction. Embracing the future of AI, ChatGPT integration brings intelligent assistance into the driving experience. Additionally, a wellness app allows passengers to adjust vehicle functions for maximum comfort. Safety remains a priority with the implementation of an exit warning system, alerting occupants to approaching motorized vehicles and bicycles from the rear, ensuring a secure journey for all.

Volkswagen introduces a groundbreaking feature for the ID. Buzz: the new panoramic sunroof with Smart Glass technology, available exclusively with the long wheelbase option. This innovative sunroof is crafted from multi-layered smart glass, incorporating an integrated liquid crystal film that can be electronically switched between transparency and opacity with ease. Not only does it offer versatility, but it also pays homage to Volkswagen's iconic "Samba Bus" with its expansive design, marking it as the largest panoramic sunroof in Volkswagen's lineup. By seamlessly blending classic car roof window elements with cutting-edge technology, Volkswagen brings a touch of nostalgia into the present, offering passengers a unique and immersive experience reminiscent of the past while embracing the advancements of modern automotive engineering.
