Beyond Components: Mahindra and Volkswagen Explore Broader EV Cooperation, Platform Sharing

Volkswagen and Mahindra have announced a partnership to exchange EV components for future cars. In 2022, both brands inked a term sheet stipulating that Mahindra's INGLO-based EVs would employ Volkswagen's MEB platform. Over the course of several years, the cooperation will generate around 50GWh in total. The first INGLO platform-based born EV will enter series production in December 2024. Mahindra will import its batteries from Volkswagen, although both companies are interested in developing local manufacture. The supply arrangement will last several years and have a total volume of around 50GWh over its duration. Mahindra is already selling the XUV400 EV in India, and its first-born EV based on the INGLO platform will go on sale in early 2025. The Volkswagen Group will introduce the Skoda Enyaq EV in India later this year.
