A study reveals consumer demand for the technology shown at CES 2024.

A market research and consultancy company called AutoPacific was present at CES 2024 to highlight a few elements from their yearly Future Attribute Demand Study (FADS). Demand for 138 car features and technologies is measured by the poll; several of these items are either very recently or very soon to be available on certain cars marketed in the United States. According to Deborah Grieb, Director of Marketing and customer Insights at AutoPacific, the feature on display at CES lets them determine whether the feature and technology rollout plans of automakers and suppliers align with customer demand.

In 2023, a number of automakers debuted pedestrian messaging, which was centered around panels that could be mounted on the front, back, or side of the car and used to show pedestrians safety warnings. In the upcoming years, AutoPacific anticipates that the popularity of this feature will increase, especially for silent electric cars (EVs). Its participation at CES has generated interest in the capability of purchasing goods, technology, and vehicle updates via the car's central infotainment screen. Many of the new vehicles on the road today are already utilizing app integration thanks to infotainment systems like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an expanding number of downloaded applications. Nonetheless, manufacturers are making sure that car connection will exist in the future since, according to a poll, 18% of consumers desire this function, up from 10% in 2022.

At CES, there were demonstrations of passenger-side infotainment panels that provide the user their own screen real estate for activities like opening a new destination map, playing a game, or making a video chat. According to AutoPacific, this will soon be standard on many EVs as well as luxury cars.

Based on their increasing presence at CES, automakers consider in-cabin technology to be one of the most crucial sources of difference. But according to a recent survey, customer interest in the technology on exhibit at the event is just moderate.
