2025 Ford Explorer Debuts

Ford has introduced a mid-cycle facelift for the 2025 Explorer, a popular mid-size SUV, which has undergone a significant overhaul. The updated exterior is similar to the Chinese-spec Explorer, while the interior features a larger 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen. Ford is streamlining the trim structure, while powertrain options remain mostly unchanged. The 2025 Explorer lineup includes Active, ST-Line, ST, and Platinum models, each with a refined cabin and the Ford Digital Experience infotainment system. For the first time, Explorer drivers can enjoy Ford BlueCruise hands-free highway driving. Ford has refined almost every part of the new Explorer, focusing on a redesigned interior, additional technology like BlueCruise, and special editions like the 400 horsepower Explorer ST. The new Explorer is designed to deliver what the next generation of customers want and love in a large SUV.

Explorer brings new standard interior color schemes across the lineup:

Platinum

  • Mojave Dusk leather instrument panel, door panels and console with matched accent stitching
  • Mojave Dusk leather seats with matched accent stitching

ST

  • Black Onyx instrument panel, door panels and console with red accent stitching
  • Black Onyx ActiveX® seats with Miko suede inserts and red accent stitching

ST-Line

  • Black Onyx instrument panel, door panels and console with red accent stitching
  • Black Onyx ActiveX® seats with cloth inserts and red accent stitching

Active

  • Ultra Dark Space Gray instrument panel, door panels and console with Harvest Bronze accent stitching
  • Dark Gray soft-touch seats with Black Onyx inserts and Harvest Bronze accent stitching

Ford has released the 2025 Explorer, which features a carry-over turbocharged 2.3-liter Ecoboost powertrain that produces 300 hp in the Active, ST-Line, and Platinum models, and a more potent 3.0-liter Ecoboost that makes 400 hp and is optionally available in the luxurious Platinum. The Explorer Hybrid is no longer available, and fans of electrification will have to wait for the next generation of the popular SUV. Both EcoBoost powertrains are exclusively mated to a "recalibrated" 10-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters in the ST. Rear-wheel-drive is standard in all trims, with 4WD offered as an option. The first vehicles of the 2025 Ford Explorer will arrive in US dealerships in the second quarter of the year, with order books open and prices starting from $41,220 including destination charges. The special edition Explorer ST continues as the most powerful and fun-to-drive Explorer ever with new options, including a specially tuned 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine that produces 400 horsepower and 415 lb.-ft. of torque. Customers can attend the complimentary Ford Performance Racing School's ST Driving Experience in Park City, Utah or Asheville, North Carolina. The 2025 Explorer series lineup includes Platinum, ST, ST-Line, and Active models, with Vapor Blue Metallic paint, black-painted roof, and new 21-inch Magnetite-painted aluminum wheels.
