French Marque Unveils Next-Gen HYBRID 136 for Improved Efficiency and Enhanced Driving Experience
Peugeot is amplifying its commitment to electrification with the introduction of the innovative HYBRID 136 powertrain for the popular 308 and 408 models. This next-generation hybrid system offers drivers a compelling blend of efficiency, performance, and environmental responsibility.
Heart of the Hybrid: A Powerful and Efficient Combination
The HYBRID 136 pairs a 1.2-liter PureTech gasoline engine with a seamlessly integrated 48V electric motor and a 0.9 kWh lithium-ion battery. This combination delivers not only impressive fuel economy – up to 15% improvement over the outgoing PureTech 130 EAT8 engine – but also a significant reduction in CO2 emissions. The 408 boasts a reduction of 22g/km, while the 308 achieves a 19g/km decrease, making both models friendlier to the environment and potentially benefiting from lower tax rates.
Effortless Efficiency and Seamless Electric Drive
One of the most notable features of the HYBRID 136 is its self-charging capability. The 48V battery automatically regenerates power during driving, eliminating the need for external charging. This allows drivers to experience the benefits of electric propulsion – silent starts, effortless maneuvering, and zero-emission urban cruising – for over 50% of the time. The compact and cleverly positioned battery under the front passenger seat ensures no compromise on passenger or cargo space.
Enhanced Driving Dynamics and Wider Powertrain Choice
The introduction of the HYBRID 136 expands the powertrain options for 308 and 408 drivers. The electric motor provides a significant boost of torque at low revs, enhancing responsiveness and offering a more dynamic driving experience. Whether navigating city streets or tackling highway commutes, the HYBRID 136 provides a smooth and engaging drive.
Availability and Trim Levels
The HYBRID 136 will be offered on a variety of trim levels. For the 308, it's available on the ACTIVE, ALLURE, and GT, while 408 drivers can choose between ALLURE and GT variants. Pricing starts from £29,040 OTR MRRP for the 308 Hatchback, £30,240 OTR MRRP for the 308 SW, and £32,585 OTR MRRP for the 408 HYBRID.
With the addition of the HYBRID 136, Peugeot empowers drivers with a versatile and eco-friendly powertrain option, solidifying the 308 and 408 as compelling choices in the evolving automotive landscape.
