At Auto China 2024, Changan Mazda Automobile Corporation Ltd. (Changan Mazda), in collaboration with Mazda Motor Corporation (Mazda), revealed two new electrified vehicles, showcasing their commitment to the growing EV market in China. The first model, Mazda EZ-6, is set to launch in China by the end of 2024, marking the beginning of an expanded EV lineup for the region. The second model, the Mazda 創 Arata, is a design concept that is scheduled for mass production and introduction to the Chinese market by the end of 2025.
Masahiro Moro, President & CEO of Mazda, expressed excitement about the collaboration with Changan Automobile, stating, "We are delighted to introduce the all-new new energy vehicle (NEV) developed in alliance with Mazda and Changan Automobile. The Mazda EZ-6 is the latest electrified vehicle that combines Mazda's strengths with Changan Automobile's electrified technology."
The Mazda EZ-6 is designed as a dedicated electrified model, incorporating Mazda's signature design language, KODO-Soul of Motion, and its Jinba-ittai driving feel, along with advanced electric vehicle technology and smart features from Changan Automobile. The vehicle will be available in two versions: a battery electric vehicle (BEV) and a plug-in hybrid electrified vehicle (PHEV), offering customers in China a choice that suits their preferences and lifestyle.
Key features of the Mazda EZ-6 include a dynamic design, crafted handling and braking, 50:50 weight distribution (BEV model), front strut suspension, rear multi-link suspension, and smart technologies for safety and convenience. The BEV model is expected to have a driving range of approximately 600 km, while the PHEV model aims for over 1,000 km on a single tank of fuel.
In addition to the Mazda EZ-6, Mazda also premiered the Mazda 創 Arata concept at Auto China 2024. This concept SUV reflects Mazda's philosophy of "Uplifting the Human Spirit" and is designed to appeal to the sophisticated taste of Chinese consumers.
Mazda's commitment to the Chinese market includes further collaborations with Changan Automobile to expand its lineup of electrified products, providing customers with more choices that align with Mazda's core values of Human Centric design and the 'Joy of Driving.'
As Mazda continues to innovate and introduce new electrified models, the company aims to deliver the 'Joy of Living' by creating moving experiences in customers' daily lives, shaping a sustainable and enjoyable future for mobility in China and beyond.
