GMC Unveils Enhanced 2024 Sierra EV Denali Edition 1: More Range, More Power

GMC has made waves in the electric vehicle (EV) market with its announcement of the 2024 Sierra EV Denali Edition 1, which promises even more impressive features than initially estimated. The Edition 1, a limited-run exclusive trim for the launch, is set to redefine the standards of electric trucks, embodying the pinnacle of GMC's renowned Denali brand.

Duncan Aldred, global vice president of Buick and GMC, expressed excitement about the next chapter in the Denali legacy, stating, "Denali has been an industry icon for 25 years, and the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 provides customers an exclusive opportunity to be a part of the next chapter."

One of the most notable enhancements to the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 is the increase in all-electric range. Originally estimated at 400 miles, the GM Ultium Platform has undergone optimization to deliver a GM-estimated 440 miles of range for the 2024 model year, representing a significant 10 percent improvement. Additionally, the Edition 1 boasts impressive towing and payload capacities, with a GM-estimated 10,000 pounds of max towing and 1,450 pounds of max payload, surpassing initial estimates by 500 pounds and 150 pounds, respectively.

Dealers are currently collaborating with Edition 1 reservation holders to facilitate the ordering process, indicating strong demand for this groundbreaking EV.

The Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 combines true truck capability with next-gen power, purposeful technology, and luxurious Denali design cues both inside and out. Among its standout features is CrabWalk, a GMC-exclusive capability that allows for diagonal movement of the vehicle at low speeds, providing enhanced maneuverability in tight spaces. This feature, also available on the GMC HUMMER EV Pickup and SUV, showcases GMC's commitment to innovation and versatility.

Key specifications of the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 include:

  • GM-estimated 754 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque in Max Power mode.
  • 800 Volt DC Public Fast Charging capable at up to 350kW, enabling up to 100 miles of range in approximately 10 minutes.
  • Available Super Cruise, offering truly hands-free advanced driver assistance technology for trailering.
  • Air Ride Adaptive Suspension for a more comfortable ride and the ability to raise or lower the truck by approximately 2 inches.
  • 4-Wheel Steer for improved maneuverability and a smaller turning circle.
  • GMC's first MultiPro MidGate™, providing a maximum load floor length of nearly 11 feet with the MidGate down.

Deliveries of the 2024 Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 are expected to commence in the summer, with a final starting MSRP of $99,495 (including $1,995 DFC). This marks a reduction from the originally estimated price, reflecting changes in the evolving EV landscape and GMC's commitment to offering competitive pricing.

While the delivery timeframe for the Sierra EV has been slightly delayed, the Edition 1 has already sold out, underscoring its appeal and demand among consumers. GMC has yet to disclose details regarding the production volume of the Edition 1 or pricing and availability for other Sierra EV trims, which will be announced at a later date.

With its impressive range, power, and features, the 2024 Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 signals GMC's bold leap into the future of electric trucks, setting a new standard for performance, innovation, and luxury in the EV market.
