European Polestar drivers, rejoice! Polestar, the electric performance car brand, has partnered with Plugsurfing to launch a comprehensive public charging service called Polestar Charge. This new initiative boasts several features designed to simplify the electric car charging experience across Europe.
One-Stop Shop for Charging
Polestar Charge offers access to a whopping 650,000 electric vehicle charging points across Europe. This vast network integrates multiple charging providers, including heavyweights like Tesla Supercharger, IONITY, and Recharge, along with Total, Fastned, and Allego. This eliminates the need for drivers to juggle multiple subscriptions and apps, streamlining the charging process.
Subscription Perks and Tesla Integration
Polestar Charge offers a free basic option, but a EUR 13.99 monthly subscription unlocks additional benefits. Subscribers enjoy a 30% discount on charging fees at over 28,000 stations within the network. Notably, Polestar Charge marks the first time a European car manufacturer has integrated the Tesla Supercharger network – known for its speed and ubiquity – into its own charging app. This opens up access to Tesla's over 14,000 European chargers, boasting speeds up to 250 kW, for non-Tesla EV drivers like Polestar owners.
Convenience at the Forefront
"Convenient charging is essential for a seamless electric car ownership experience," said Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO. Polestar Charge aims to deliver on that promise by integrating seamlessly with Google Maps. This functionality allows drivers to optimize charging stops along their route and even activate battery pre-conditioning for faster charging times.
