The new 2025 BMW M4 Coupe and M4 Convertible 20HP More For Competition xDrive



 BMW has revised its M4 and M4 convertible models for 2025, with the M4 Competition xDrive convertible and coupe gaining an additional 20 horsepower, bringing the top-spec M4 to 523 hp. However, this power bump does not result in better acceleration or higher peak speed. The all-wheel drive M4 Competition versions have a basic peak speed of 155 mph (249 km/h), but the optional M Driver's Package increases it to 180 mph for the coupe or 174 mph for the drop-top. The revisions follow the makeover of the 4-Series.

The BMW M4 Coupe and M4 Convertible feature inline 6-cylinder power units that combine high-revving characteristics from BMW M GmbH with the current version of M TwinPower Turbo Technology. These engines offer responsive power delivery and high-torque characteristics up to the highest load ranges. The engine's design features derive from motorsports, including a stiff crankcase, weight-reduced forged crankshaft, and iron coating applied to cylinder liners in an arc wire spraying process (AWSP). The cylinder head core is manufactured in a 3-D printing process, optimizing weight and temperature management.




The S58B30T0 6-cylinder motor is available in three levels of output, tailored to each drivetrain configuration. The M4 Coupe offers 473 hp via a precise 6-speed manual gearbox, while the M4 Competition Coupe delivers a maximum output of 503 hp and sends it to the rear wheels via an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. The M4 Competition xDrive Coupe and Convertible produce 523 hp and transfer the power to the road via BMW's intelligent all-wheel-drive system for exhilarating driving dynamics.




The substantial power paired with M xDrive allows the M4 Competition xDrive Coupe to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, while the M4 Competition xDrive Convertible achieves an electronically limited maximum speed of 155 mph.

The BMW M4 Coupe comes standard with 18-inch M forged light-alloy wheels at the front and 19-inch at the rear, increasing to 19-inch on the front axle and 20-inch on the rear on Competition models. The 19-inch/20-inch configuration is optionally available on the M4 Coupe. The optional equipment includes M forged light-alloy wheels style 825M in a bright silver finish, providing a sporty, sophisticated, and elegant look.

The new BMW M4 Coupe and M4 Convertible have been updated with modern design accents, including redesigned headlights and LED taillights featuring laser technology. The LED headlights are more structured and functional, producing both low and high beams using the same LED module. The LED taillights, standard on all BMW M4 versions, feature laser technology and an attractive light design, with laser diodes illuminating glass fiber bundles to produce 3-dimensional light graphics. This technology was first introduced on the limited edition BMW M4 CSL.

The BMW roundel and M badge at the rear of the Competition models have been updated with high gloss black surrounds and silver bordering. The 2025 BMW M4 Coupe models now offer a unique customization opportunity with optional M design graphics for the hood and trunk lid, available in High Gloss Black or High Gloss Red, emphasizing the sporty characteristics of the two-door model. A steel roof option is also available, including an electrically operated glass sliding roof, with the roof panel finished in High Gloss Black, providing an extra design accent that stands out from the body color.

The new BMW M4 Coupe and M4 Convertible feature a driver-focused interior with new steering wheel designs and trims. The standard M leather multi-function steering wheel features a flat-bottomed rim, modified spokes, and a red stripe marking the 12 o'clock position. An M Alcantara steering wheel is also available with the same design and range of functions. A heating function is an option for both steering wheel designs.

The interior trims around the dashboard, control panel, and cupholder cover come as standard in a Dark Graphite matte finish. Finely Polished Aluminium trim has been added to the list of trim options for the new BMW M4 Coupe and the new BMW M4 Convertible. The optional Sensatec upholstery for the dashboard now boasts a finer grain for a more luxurious feel.

The BMW Curved Display and new BMW Operating System 8.5 combine motorsports flair with advanced digitalization. The high-resolution BMW Curved Display helps the driver focus on their task, while the operating system is based on BMW Operating System 8.5, which includes the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant and is optimized for touch and voice control. The standard 3-zone automatic climate control can be controlled either by touch control via a dedicated menu at the bottom of the control display or by voice control.

Advancements in digital operation reduce the number of buttons and controls in the cockpit and redesigned the instrument panel. The standard Ambient Lighting now features contour lighting integrated into the surrounds of the central air vents, and the BMW Live Cockpit Professional includes the cloud-based navigation system BMW Maps and the BMW Head-up Display.
